
The Eras of Degrassi: TNG
TNG spans 14 seasons and there are many different graduating classes that appear on the series.
I have the series divided into 4 different eras based on which characters are on the show. Here is a table showing them:

The bottom row is how I would catagorize the seasons without any overlap between the eras.
I should clarify that this is not a fandom convention or anything the slightest bit official. I made this system up.
Each era is based on a specific group of characters. Once one group of characters graduates, they usually add in some new characters, usually grade 9s, to start the next one. The eras are each named after a female character who has a familial tie to the previous era and is focused on heavily during their time on the show. For some reason theres one for all of them.
Okay, cool, but why are we catagorizing the Degrassi seasons and characters?
Well first of all I'm autistic. We just do these kinds of things.
But more importantly, Degrassi: TNG is long and I like having an easy way to describe the pretty clear shifts that happen throughout the series and which group of characters we're talking about in a given moment.
I like being able to describe the Emma Era vs the Clare Era because it allows me to easily separate what feels like different series. Describing seasons 6-9 as the Transitional Era allows me to easily describe the way that Degrassi struggles to find itself after the departure of many of the original characters.
